Boo Boo Wins Too Easily

Boxing fans deserve to see Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (now 16-0-0) tested with better opponents.  At the Mohegan Sun Arena, Uncasville, CT, on February 10, 2012, Andrade, fighting out of Providence, RI, and weighing 154 lbs. made short work of Angel “Toro” Hernandez (now 30-11-0) of Trenton, NJ.  Andrade, a rangy southpaw with long reach and fast hands, hit Hernandez, also weighing 154 lbs., at will from the opening bell, stopping him at 1:39 of the second round.  Hernandez had no defense against Andrade’s straight left and very little defense against his right jab or right hook.  The Trenton based Hernandez was the third opponent slated to face Andrade.  Of the two earlier opponents who were both replaced, one reportedly had the flu and the other withdrew for unspecified reasons.  If “Boo Boo” is to become a creditable draw, he should be tested against the likes of Delvin Rodriguez or Sergy Dzinziruk.  Rodriguez incidentally was in attendance and received a trophy for participating in ESPN’s 2011 fight of the year.

In the co-main event, Raymond “Tito” Serrano of Philadelphia, PA, won a ten round decision over Kenny Abril of Rochester, NY.  Serrano (now 18-0-0) weighed 143 lbs. whereas Abril (now 11-2-4) came in at 145 lbs.  Although Serrano was knocked down in the third, he won a unanimous decision with all three judges voting for him 97-92, 97-92 and 97-94.
